The Gorillaz sort of released a new album – The Fall. It is described by Die Zeit as a 2D-solo-album – there are hardly any guest appearances, compared to Plastic Beach. Anyway – if you like them, you’ll enjoy this album. Fortunately, you can stream it for (virtually) free at thefall.gorillaz.com – you only have to provide an e-mail address. Enjoy!
P.S.: you don’t actually have to give an e-mail address – just clicking on “I’m on the mailing list” should do the trick…

We went to see Christoph und Lollo this weekend, for the “Traditionelles Neujahrsspringen” (see the previous post) at the Kabarett Niedermair. Like last year, it was the perfect start into a new year. And we are very much looking forward to their new album!
Der gelbe Salon wishes all our readers a successful year 2011!

Das Biber is a monthly magazine on the issues that you do not see on Vienna’s beaten tourist tracks – “Grätzl”-talk, immigrants’ stories, politics from the “off” angle, and 100 things that you never knew you should know before you knew them.
By the way, you can subscribe to das Biber for free – for a real printed copy of the magazine. Where can you still get that, in a time where more and more newspapers hide their online articles behind a pay-wall?
For subscribing or just find out more, go to www.dasbiber.at!
Disclaimer: please be careful – dasbiber comes “mit sharf”!

Tomorrow morning, ticket sales for the Viennale Film Festival will start, so you may expect major delays around Stubentor and Schottenring. The programme is already online, so be sure to read it thoroughly and join the stampede tomorrow morning, to get tickets for all the films that you need to see!

The summer is over… Or so it seems when you consider the temperature outside early morning these days.
So we are quite happy that FM4 released the current “Sunny Side Up Vol. 10″ just in time. Makes you feel like it’s summer again… If you need some nice folks around while listening to the music, just drop by.
More info on shop.orf.at/fm4/…

What’s a typical Viennese summer without open-air movie screenings? Take for example “Kino unter Sternen” (http://www.afterimage.at/), “Kino wie noch nie” (http://www.kinowienochnie.at/) or Volxkino (http://www.kinoamdach.at/). So dergelbeSalon had the idea to also host an open-air backyard cinema.
If you are curious and would like to join – just drop by. If you would like to know which movie we will show – look at the picture!

This weekend, you can do some floating on the Danube canal – or “Donaukanaltreiben”, as the locals call it. Music, poetry, and culture – even though I don’t quite see how they pack that all on a raft and send it floating on the canal.
Anyway… It might be fun! Check out more on donaukanaltreiben.at!
PS: the weather forecast is good – unbelievable!

Next Saturday, Stermann and Grissemann will do what they are best at: talking non-sense in public (though I heard they also do that if they do not have an audience to impress). They will be supported by Russkaja, Balkan Beat Box and many others. And for some reason, 100,000 roses will be handed out by Austria’s semi-prominence… Whatever…
Saturday, May, 15, Rathausplatz, 18:00 – for more information, check out fm4.orf.at.
PS: This event is somehow related to Wiener Festwochen…
PPS: Weather forecast ist bad…
